小猫钓鱼 (Xiǎomāo diàoyú) Little Cat Goes Fishing (Beginner)

Yì tiān, xiǎo māo gēn māo māma qù diàoyú.
一 天，小    猫     跟   猫    妈妈   去  钓鱼。
One day, a little cat goes fishing with his Mom.

Tāmen gāng zuò xià,  yì zhī qīngtíng fēi lái le.
他们      刚     坐   下，一 只   蜻蜓   飞  来 了。

When they sit down, a dragonfly comes.

Xiǎo māo fàng xià yúgān jiù qù zhuō qīngtíng.
小    猫      放    下  鱼竿   就 去  捉     蜻蜓。

Little cat puts down his fishing rod and chases the dragonfly.

Qīngtíng fēi zǒu le, xiǎo māo méi zhuō zháo, kōng zhe shǒu huílái le.
蜻蜓      飞   走  了，小    猫     没    捉   着，   空     着   手     回来  了。

But the dragonfly flies away, and little cat comes back empty-handed.

zhèshí, māo māma diào le yì tiáo dà yú.
这时， 猫     妈妈    钓   了 一 条  大 鱼。

Just at this moment, his mom lands a big fish.

Xiǎo māo yòu zuòxia diàoyú, yì zhī húdié fēi lái le.
小     猫    又    坐下    钓鱼， 一只  蝴蝶  飞 来 了。

When the little cat sits down again and continues fishing, a butterfly comes.

xiǎo māo yòu fàng xià yúgān qù zhuō húdié.
小     猫    又   放    下  鱼竿   去  捉     蝴蝶。

The little cat puts down the fishing rod again and chases it.

Húdié fēi zǒu le, xiǎo māo yòu méi zhuō zháo, kōng zhe shǒu huílái le.
蝴蝶   飞  走 了，小   猫    又    没   捉     着，   空     着   手     回来  了。

But the butterfly also flies away, the little cat comes back empty-handed.

zhènghǎo, māo māma yòu diào le yì tiáo dà yú.
正好，       猫     妈妈   又   钓   了 一 条  大 鱼。

At this moment, his mom lands a big fish again.

Xiǎo māo shuō: "Wǒ zěnme yì tiáo yú yě diào bù zháo?"
小      猫    说：“  我   怎么   一 条  鱼  也  钓   不  着？”

The little cat says, "Why can’t I land even one fish?"

Māo māma kàn le kàn xiǎo māo, shuō: “diàoyú yào yìxīnyíyì, nǐ yìhuǐr zhuō
猫      妈妈   看 了  看   小    猫， 说：“  钓鱼    要 一心一意，你 一会儿  捉
qīngtíng, yìhuǐr zhuō húdié, zěnme néng diào dào yú ne?"
蜻蜓，    一会儿  捉   蝴蝶， 怎么      能     钓    到   鱼 呢？”

Mom looks at the little cat and says, "You have to be focused when fishing. You chase dragonfly and butterfly now and then, how can you land a fish?”

Xiǎo māo tīng le māma de huà hěn nánwéiqíng, kāishǐ  yìxīnyíyì   de diàoyú. 小     猫    听   了 妈妈    的  话   很   难为情，    开始   一心一意   地 钓鱼。

His mom's word makes the little cat feel ashamed, so he begins to focus on fishing.

Qīngtíng yòu fēi lái le, húdié yě fēi lái le.  
蜻蜓      又   飞 来了，蝴蝶  也飞 来 了。

The dragonfly comes again, and then comes the butterfly.

xiǎo māo jiù xiàng méi kànjiàn yíyàng, yí dòng yě méi  dòng.
小    猫    就   像     没   看见     一样，  一  动    也   没   动。

The little cat doesn't make any move, as if he has not seen them at all.

Bù yíhuìr,   wa!   Yìtiáo dàyú!
不 一会儿，哇！ 一条   大鱼！

After a while, wow! A big fish!

Yú zài dìshang pīpīpāpā de luàn bèng, xiǎo māo gǎnjǐn zhuōzhù, gāoxìng de hǎn
鱼  在  地上       噼噼啪啪 地 乱    蹦，   小    猫    赶紧    捉住，      高兴     地 喊
qǐlái: "Wǒ diào dào dàyú la,   wǒ diào dào dàyú la!"
起来：“我  钓    到  大鱼 啦， 我  钓    到   大鱼 啦！”

The little cat quickly catches the pit-a-pat jumping fish on the ground and shouts happily, “I landed a big fish, I landed a big fish!”

Key Learning Points:

飞机 (fēijī): n plane

The Chinese character "飞" means fly and "机" means machine.

Example:

Bú yòng zuò fēijī qù zhōngguó, zài wǎng shàng jiù néng xué shǎoér hànyǔ .
不  用     坐  飞机 去 中国，      在  网      上     就  能      学   少儿     汉语。

一心一意 (yìxīnyíyì): adj focused

The Chinese character "心" means heart and "意" means mind. "一" means one and it is a polyphone which you can pronounce it in the first tone, the second tone and the fourth tone, depending on the tone of the following word.

Example:
Yào yìxīnyíyì   de xué hànyǔ.

要   一心一意  地   学   汉语。

We should focus on learning Chinese.
